That’s a programmer’s go-to test, right? Either way, welcome to our blog! Thank you so much for reading through to the third sentence. What is the ecoSolargy blog? It’s a blog to highlight recent news in the solar industry and express our loud opinions alongside! And to talk about our company! #SelfPromotionFTW! We are turning a new leaf at ecoSolargy. We’re putting serious focus on our social media presence (So check out our Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn!), but more importantly, we’re changing the way we do business. We want to be on the forefront of sustainable business.
But we sell solar panels, so that means we’re a sustainable company, right? Well, that’s all well and good, but sustainability has three branches: economic, environmental, and social. Our company does monthly volunteer days, but we want to really take on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). CSR looks at every facet of your business. The way you interact with your community is a part of it. So we volunteer and are starting a program to give solar to nonprofits, but that just scratches the surface. CSR looks at your supply chain, business ethics, and employee rights (#MoreVacationDays?). We would like to see every company become more socially responsible, which is why we want to share our experiences and highlight fellow company’s CSR initiatives.
Aside from CSR, we really want a soap box for our opinions! 140 characters was not long enough! We want to discuss current solar news, projects, and ways to help the environment. Solar is only the tip of the iceberg of a sustainable future. We all need to be more efficient and use many alternative resources.
How do we write a blog? Well…that has been the challenge. We wanted to be unique. We decided to create character names to be more memorable. I am TweeterDeeter. Imagine the blue twitter bird with a goatee and a suit. My co-blogger is Danny the (Solar) Manatee. Why a Manatee? Because nothing else (almost) rhymes with Danny!!! So how do we characterize our characters? We decided we would write like our characters would. I downed 6 espressos and attempted mine:
HAVE YOU GUYS EVER HEARD OF PACE FINANCING? ITS A REALLY GREAT WAY TO FINANCE SOLAR PROJECTS AND EFFICIENCY PROJECTS THROUGH YOUR PROPERTY TAX. THESE ARE FUNDED THROUGH SPECIAL BOND MEASURES SO IT DOESN’T COST THE CITY ANY REAL MONEY. BUT BIG BANKS DON’T LIKE IT BECAUSE PROPERTY TAXES ARE COLLECTED BEFORE MORTGAGE PAYMENTS DURING DEFAULTS.
Well, so the challenge would be to write 140 words per minute for 10 minutes straight… that was only two. But it still wasn’t as bad as Danny’s! Here’s what he came up with:
ghju gyhaw kog weqwaf gjkleajkfdgikw gvjifrm,ewklrf ewokpn ewjknweJNK 2332n aerjk329u8ier eru8ijfn rsdc iun sw348ujmb ewjknazjnkeqw4ijq3 qjnaers89fd q4jnfvuj vclm eafm q fgskuraen aq ntr,sdr naewu74asmn,AQU4ARE N NREAS awehnaehjq3 n3qjn erasgszb a ersahnaerjn q322 naefwm aerwasekwaem ,k3qw2kmuhkaesfn hfdsaeuywiaerkrszm.aehn v k,zdsio;aewklv k kop;aewhweijov iojszdioewpo9 o8dvu8 klsdlo;dfxlp;fdjn
As you may have guessed, Danny was trying to type like a Manatee… which we interpreted as typing with oven mitts on. In the end we decided against those ideas, but we’ll keep the 6 espressos! Check back later this week and beyond to see our “characters” unfold, but more importantly, learn about solar and great ways to give back to your community!
NOTE: The award around TweeterDeeter’s neck is a “winner” gold medal because we are winning bloggers! See you on Thursday where we’ll discuss disaster preparedness!
