Jimmy Nhieu, Vice President of Project Development at ecoSolargy (www.ecoSolargy.com), addressed the CSR Clean Energy Debut Celebration at the Rialto Theater in Tucson on January 24. Nhieu discussed the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, a company-wide plan which includes the adoption of environment-friendly measures such as greater reliance on solar power, more energy-efficient heating and lighting fixtures, paperless accounting, a “green” purchasing policy and recycling.
“A small business can impact the local community in a significant way,” Nhieu said. “Regardless of a company’s size, CSR should be everyone’s responsibility.”
ecoSolargy’s CSR also encourages monthly volunteerism by ecoSolargy employees, Nhieu said, and the donation of materials to non-profit organizations which enable them to go solar. ecoSolargy, for example, recently donated 9kW of solar modules to Homeboy Industries, a charity that aids inner-city youth, that enabled the non-profit to convert its downtown Los Angeles headquarters to solar power.
“Rather than spending money on electricity bills, Homeboy Industries can devote its resources to programs which help the clients they serve,” Nhieu noted.
Nhieu addressed an international group of business leaders and government officials, including Arizona Congressman Ron Barber. For additional information on ecoSolargy’s CSR, please visit http://www.ecosolargy.com/about-us/CSR/.
